This week the solar world witnessed the official inauguration of the largest solar power plant project in the state of Espirito Santo (Brazil). The solar plants are located on two college campuses part of Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES), the largest university in the state.
The two plants can generate up to 7.7 million kWh / year of electricity. This represents a 45.5% reduction in electricity consumption at the largest campus and a 30% reduction in the University's general electricity bill for all campuses combined. This will help the university cover the cost of initial investment in less than five years. The estimated annual savings are crucial to the finances and general sustainability of the university and showcase the potential for major sustainable infrastructure projects in years to come.
Once again, our MT inverters, with their low LCOE, prove to be the perfect match for Brazil’s expanding C&I segment.
Thanks to a combination of sustainable innovation, forward-thinking solutions and favourable policies, Brazil opens its doors to the future and shows the potential for what more is to come in this new, yet eventful decade.
The solar market is booming in Brazil and we look forward to more exciting projects in the near future.
